with Rolando Villazon & Final Concert




Ukrainian tenor Mark Serdiuk, praised by the press for his „beautiful lyric voice“, his „perfect technique“,his „touching interpretations“ and his „acting talent“, as well as for his charme and handsome look, and celebrated as „revelation“, is a member of the ensemble at State Theatre Oldenburg since 2022/23, where he appeared and appears as ERNESTO in Donizetti’s „Don Pasquale“,  BEPPE in Leoncavallo’s „Pagliacci“ under the baton of Vito Christofaro and in stage direction of Dietrich Hilsdorf, as ITALIENISCHER SÄNGER in R. Strauss‘ „Der Rosenkavalier“ under GMD Hendrik Vestmann and in stage direction of François de Carpentries, as OBADJA in a staged performance of Mendelssohn’s „Eliah”, staged by Anthony Pilavachi, as BRUNORO in the rediscovered opera „L‘Isola d’Alcina“ by Giuseppe Gazzaniga, staged by Christoph von Bernuth and as REFEREE in the musical "Chess" by Ex-Abba-members Benny Andersson and Bjørn Ulvaeus.



In the 2023/24 season, Mark will embody again the parts of  OBADJAH and REFEREE, and make his debuts as PASTOR ADAMS in Britten's "Peter Grimes" in stage direction of Hinrich Horstkotte; as VICTORIN in Korngold's "Die Tote Stadt" in stage direction of Christoph von Bernuth, and as UN VENDITORE di CANZONETTE in Puccini's "Il Trittico".

In addition, he will attend a Masterclass with Rolando Villazón, including a final concert at the State Theatre Oldenburg, and sing in "Classic meets Pop" in the EWE Arena Oldenburg.

 

So far, guest contracts led him as ALFREDO in Verdi‘s “La Traviata” to the Dniepropetrovsk Academic Theater of Opera, as RAMIRO in Rossini’s „La Cenerentola“ to the Swiss Festival Oper Schloß Hallwyl, as LINDORO in Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri” to the Opera Stara Zagora; and as NEMORINO in Donizetti’s „L’Elisir d’Amore“ and ERNESTO in „Don Pasquale“, CAMILLE in Lehárs “The Merry Widow” to the Kornhauskeller Bern and Opera Festival Munot.

 

Due tot he Covid-pandemic, his‘ planed debuts as JUAN SANTOS in Weills „Der Kuhhandel“ at Opera Festival Isny as  CONTE ALMAVIVA in Rossini’s „Il Barbiere di Siviglia“ at the Thüringische Schloßfestspiele Sondershausen unfortunately had to be cancelled. 

 

Next to opera-commitments, Oratoria-concerts and Art-Song-recitals take an important part in Mark Serdiuk’s artistic life, and guested among others at the DLB - Das Liedrecital Bernthe Pride Quest Bern and the Festival Arosa Musik Klassikand sang among others J. B. Schickmayrs “Pastoral-Messe” and works by Purcell, Händel, Schütz, Mendelssohn, Zwingli, des Prés, Lejeune, Mozart, Burkhard, Heer, Profos andStrawinsyks “Mass” in Switzerland, Germany and the Ukraine, at Festival Valletta Malta, and with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciaunder Pablo Rus Broseta at Noves Veus.

 

The tenor had the pleasure to work with stage directors and conductorssuch as Roberto Abbado, Jordi Barnácer, Plácido Domingo, Ursula Hornet, Ivailo Krinchev, Gabriele Lavia, Emilio Sagi, Thaddeus Strassberger or Chirstoph von Bernuth.

 

Mark Serdiuk began his musical education in the early age of 5 at the piano.

He first studied piano and accompaniament at the Kotlyarevsky Kharkov National University of Arts, both finished “summa cum laude”, and was the winner of many national and international piano-competitions.

He performed numerous concerts as a soloist, and worked several years as a  coach at the Music-University in Kharkiv.

 

Parallel, he was studying Voice and was a frequently guest-solosit at many renowned choirs in the Ukraine, as for example the Philharmonic Choir Kharkov or the Philharmonic Choir Zaporozhe – before he took up his postgraduate studies at the Conservatory of Arts in Bern(Switzerland)..

 

During his studies, the young tenor appeared as CALAF in “Das Rätsel der Prinzessin”, an adaption of Puccini’s “Turandot” at Opera Zürich, as LENSKY in Tchaikovsky’s “Jewgenji Onegin” at the Kharkiv National University of Arts, as PAOLINO in Cimarosa’s “Il matrimonio segreto” the Conservatory of Arts in Bern, as well as in numerous performances in concert or semi-staged productions in parts by Händel, Paisiello, Caldara, Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Gluck, Mozart, Donizetti, Cilea, Borodin, Lehár and Stravinsky.

 

He completed his musical education in masterclasses with Giacomo Aragall in Spain, Eva Mei, Capucine Chiaudani and Christian Manzoni in Italy, Richard Resch in Germany und Vesselina Kasarova in Bulgaria; and at the Centre Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia, where he was a member of the studio for 2 seasons, performing in studio-productions the Mozart-part of DON OTTAVIO in “Don Giovanni”,TAMINO in “The Magic Flute” and BELMONTE in „The Abduction from the Seraglio”, as NEMORINO in Donizetti’s „L’Elisir d’Amore“ and as ALFRED in J. Strauß’ “The Bat”.


And on the main stage of the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, he embodied BORSA in Verdi‘s “Rigoletto” alongside Leo Nucci, ABDALLO in „Nabucco“, ROLLA in „I Masnadieri”, and PONG in Puccini’s „Turandot“, and sang many concerts, as for example  in the <10-years-anniversary of Center de Perfeccionament Concert>; often under the baton of Maestro Plácido Domingo.

 

A lively competition participant, he won many awards at national and international competitions. To name only a few: the 1st Prize at the “St. Petersburg International Competition”, the 3rd Prize at „Tenors Only Competition – Opera w Zamku Szczecin“ or the GRAND PRIX at the Ukrainian Festival „Svit Tadantiv“.

 

During the Corona-pandemic and the lock-down of many theatres, Mark Serdiuk worked until the begin of the war in his home country, as Cantor in the Orthodox Church and as music-teacher at the Kharkiv School of Arts, and won with his children's-choir the GRAND PRIX at the International Festival of Talents <World Stars 2021>.
